Hola a todos, ¿Te has preguntado si usas correctamente el verbo llevar? Como muchos, este verbo tiene multiples usos en nuestro idioma, aquí tenemos los más comunes:

1. Tener siempre algún objeto con nosotros mismos.

• Siempre llevo mi almuerzo al trabajo porque no me gusta comer en restaurantes. I always take / carry lunch (from home) to work because I don’t like to eat in restaurants.
• No llevo mi telefono en las manos en la calle porque es peligroso. I don’t carry my phone in my hands on the street because it’s dangerous.
• En el restaurante te preguntan: ¿Para comer aquí o para llevar? At the restaurant they ask you: For here or for carry out?
• No llevo efectivo en mi billetera, solo la tarjeta de credito. I don’t carry cash in my wallet, just a credit card.

2. Llevar físicamente a una persona a un lugar.

• Tengo que llevar a mi hija al colegio en la tarde. I have to take my daughter to school in the afternoon.
• Necesito llevar a mi madre al aeropuerto manaña por la mañana. I need to take my mother to the airport tomorrow morning.
• Tengo que llevar unos documentos a la embajada antes de viajar. I have to take some documents to the embassy before traveling.
• ¿Puedes llevarme a la casa de Luisa en la noche? Can you take me to Luisa’s house in the evening?

3. Tiempo gastado en un lugar o haciendo algo.

• ¿Cuánto tiempo llevas viviendo aquí en Colombia? How long have you been living here in Colombia?
• ¿Cuánto tiempo llevas esperandome? How long have you been waiting for me?
• Llevo viviendo en mi ciudad por 25 años. I have been living in my city for 25 years.
• Llevo 5 horas limpiando la casa y no he terminado, hay cosas por todos lados. I have been cleaning the house for 5 hours and I haven’t finished yet.
• ¿Por cuánto tiempo han estado juntos? For how long have you guys been together?

4. Preguntar por los ingredientes de un plato en especifico.

• Esta ensalada lleva lechuga, espinaca, tomate, tocino, huevo y maíz. This salad has lettuce, spinach, tomato, bacon, egg and corn.
  ¿Que lleva la sopa? What does the soup carry?
• La sopa lleva mariscos. The soup contains shellfish.
• ¿La pizza lleva queso? Does pizza have cheese?
• No quiero que mi plato lleve muchos vegetales. I don’t want my plate to have a lot of vegetables.
• ¿El sándwich lleva queso azul? Does the sandwich carry blues cheese?

5. Preguntar por la ropa que usa otra persona en un momento preciso.

• ¿Qué llevas puesto? Llevo puesto una camisa azul y un jean. What are you wearing? I am wearing a blue shirt and jean.
• No voy a llevar puesto un traje, llevaré ropa informal. I will not wear a suit, I will wear casual clothes.
• ¿Que vas a llevar puesto para la ceremonia? What are you going to wear for the ceremony?
• Para nuestra reunión de negocios debemos llevar puesto ropa formal. For our business meeting we must wear formal clothes.
• ¿Qué vas a llevar puesto mañana? Llevare un vestido blanco. What will you wear tomorrow? I will wear a white dress.

6. To carry something – Llevar / cargar.

• Ayúdame a llevar estas cajas al garaje. Help me to carry these boxes to the garage.
• Llevo dos maletas conmigo al aeropuerto. I take two suitcases with me to the airport.
• ¿Me ayudas a llevar mis maletas a mi habitación? Can you help me carry my bags to my room?
• Por favor lleva estas cajas al segundo piso. Please carry these boxes to the second floor.
