6 Formas de usar el verbo Dejar

¡Hola! Hoy vamos a hablar sobre el verbo dejar y cuales son sus usos en Español. Aquí traemos los mas importantes:

1. Irse: To leave for a place

¿Cuándo te vas para Francia? When do you leave for France?
Me voy para la escuela ahora. I am leaving for school right now.
El proximo mes mi asistente y yo nos vamos de la ciudad para nuestra nueva oficina al otro lado del pais. Next month my assistant and I are leaving town for our new office across the country.
Mi colega se va temporalmente para nuestra oficina en otro continente pero va a regresar despues de un año. My colleague is temporarily leaving for our office on another continent but will return after a year.

2. Salir: To leave from a place.

Estoy saliendo de la casa ahora. I am leaving from home now.
¿A qué horas sale el tren de aquí? At what time does the train leave from here?
Voy a salir en una hora, todavia estoy ocupado en mi trabajo. I’ll be out in an hour, I’m still busy with my work.
No vamos a salir hoy porque esta lloviendo y aparentemente va a venir una tormenta. We are not going out today because it is raining and apparently a storm is coming.

3. Abandonar: To abandon someone / an animal.

Algunas personas abandonan a sus mascotas. Some people abandon their pets.
Yo no quiero abandonar a mi familia, me gustaría seguir casado con mi esposa. I don’t want to leave my family, I would like to stay married to my wife.
Muchas personas dejan a sus padres en ancianatos y nunca regresan a visitarlos. Many people leave their parents in nursing homes and never return to visit them.
Yo no abandonaría a un animal en la calle. I would not abandon an animal on the street.

4. Dejar: To leave a message / To purposely leave something in a place.

Deje su mensaje después del tono. Leave your message after the tone.
Dejé mis gafas en la casa porque pensé que no las necesitaba. I left my glasses at home because I thought I didn’t need them.
Puedo dejar mi carro aquí por un rato. Can I leave my car here for a little bit?
Voy a dejar mi computador en la tienda de reparaciones el fin de semana porque tiene problemas para funcionar. I’m going to drop my computer off at the repair shop over the weekend because it’s having trouble working.

5. Dejar de hacer algo: To stop doing something.

Carlos tiene que dejar de fumar. Carlos has to stop smoking.
No puedo dejar de pensar en eso. I can’t stop thinking about it.
Te lo digo como un consejo, necesitas dejar de ver tanta televisión basura. I’m telling you this as a piece of advice, you need to stop watching so much junk TV.
Muchas personas no pueden dejar de usar las redes sociales por un dia. Many people can not stop using social networks for a day.

6. Olvidar: To forget something in a place.

No podemos abrir la casa, dejé las llaves en la casa de mi mamá. We can’t open the door, I left the keys in mom’s house.
Ahora que estoy aquí recuerdo que, dejé mi casa con la puerta abierta. Now that I’m here I remember that I left my house with the door open.
No puedo creer que, dejé la pizza en el horno por una hora y ya no puedo comerla. I can’t believe I left the pizza in the oven for an hour and I can’t eat it anymore.
Estaba en el aeropuerto cuando recordé que dejé mi pasaporte en la habitación. I was at the airport when I remembered that I left my passport in the room.
