¡Hola a todos! El verbo BAJAR es un verbo regular y puede usarse en diferentes contextos, pero casi siempre lleva el mismo significado, que es “get off” o “go down”. Veamos cuales son los usos de este verbo y su conjugación:

1. Moverse o ir hacia abajo: Move or go down:

• Voy a bajar a tu oficina cuando tenga los resultados del examen. I’ll go down to your office when I have the test results.
• Baja ese mango del arbol quiero preparar un jugo. Take that mango down from the tree, I want to prepare a juice.
• Baja las escaleras, quiero mostrarte algo. Come downstairs, I want to show you something.
• No puedo bajar, me duele la rodilla después de la lesión en mi pie. I can’t go down, my knee hurts after my foot injury.
• Baja rapido, nos va a dejar el tren. Come down quickly, the train is going to leave us.
• Si no bajas rapido no vas a llegar a tiempo a la escuela. If you don’t go down fast you won’t get to school on time.

2. Bajarse de un vehiculo (Carro, moto, bus, tren, avión etc..): Getting off a vehicle (car, motorcycle, bus, train, plane, etc.):

• Voy a bajarme en la proxima estación. I’m going to get off at the next station.
• Me bajé en el lugar equivocado. I got off at the wrong place.
• Necesito bajarme en la proxima parada. I need to get off at the next stop.
• Voy a bajarme en 5 minutos del avión. I’m going to get off the plane in 5 minutes.
• Voy a bajarme de la moto cuando llegue. I’m going to get off the bike when it arrives.
• No quiero bajarme aquí porque no conozco la ciudad y no parece muy seguro. I don’t want to get off here because I don’t know the city and it doesn’t seem very safe.

3. Disminución de la intensidad (Sintomas de una enfermedad, dolar, peso, temperatura, calidad): Decreased intensity (symptoms of a disease, dollar, weight, temperature, quality):

• El dolar bajo casi el 10% de su valor. The dollar fell almost 10% of its value.
• Bajaron los sintomas de mi gripa, ya me siento mejor. My flu symptoms have gone down, I feel better now.
• La temperatura ha bajado mucho desde esta mañana. The temperature has dropped a lot since this morning.
• La calidad de la ropa ha bajado mucho en comparación a hace 10 años. The quality of clothing has gone down a lot compared to 10 years ago.
• La temperatura bajará en dos semanas. The temperature will drop in two weeks.
• He bajado de peso desde que regresé a Colombia. I have lost weight since I returned to Colombia.

4. Dirigir o inclinar algo hacia abajo: Direct or tilt something down:

• Quiero renovar mi habitación, comenzando por bajar ese espejo, esta muy alto. I want to renovate my room, starting by lowering that mirror, it’s very high.
• Vamos a bajar todos los cuadros de la sala, creo que estan muy altos. We are going to lower all the paintings in the room, I think they are very high.
• Baja el sofa un poco más para que pueda entrar por la puerta. Lower the couch a little more so I can walk through the door.
• Baja la cabeza, no puedo ver la pantalla. Head down, I can’t see the screen.

5. Descargar archivos de internet: Download files from the internet:

• He bajado muchas fotos viejas del Facebook. I have downloaded many old photos from Facebook.
• No quiero bajar más musica del internet. I don’t want to download any more music from the internet.
• He bajado el nuevo albúm del Joe Arroyo. I have downloaded the new album by Joe Arroyo.
• Ayer bajé todos los documentos que me enviaste. Yesterday I downloaded all the documents you sent me.
• No tengo espacio en mi celular para bajar más documentos y almacenarlos. I don’t have space on my cell phone to download more documents and store them.
• Bajé un documento y tenía un virus. I downloaded a document and it had a virus.

6. Descender de un animal o de una cosa: Descend from an animal or a thing:

• Quiero bajarme del caballo. I want to get off the horse.
• No puedo subirme porque va a ser muy dificil bajarme. I can’t get on because it’s going to be very difficult to get off. I went to Dubai and got on a camel.
• Fui a Dubai y me subí a un camello. I went to Dubai and got on a camel.
• Él se bajo del camello y se fue. He got off the camel and left.
• Me voy a bajar del burro pero necesito que alguien me ayude. I’m going to get off the donkey but I need someone to help me.
